Dr. Patricia Herron Ghani is a Podiatrist specializing in diabetic foot care and is currently the only podiatrist in Al Khor hospital.  She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical technology from Wichita State University located in Wichita, Kansas. After working in various medical laboratories for 10 years, she returned to study at Des Moines Medical University, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa.  During her medical training she was a member of the Phi Delta Honor Society, graduated with honors and won the 2001 William Stickel Silver Award for Research and Papers in podiatric medicine.  She then completed residencies in Podiatric Orthopedics and Podiatric Surgery. She worked in Doha as the Head of Podiatric Services and a Consultant in Istanbul and Riyadh.

Dr. Patricia Herron Ghani has served on several committees including the Gulf Group for the Study of Diabetes, the Qatar National Committee for Diabetes, Hamad Multi-disciplinary team and represented the country of Qatar as a delegate for the International Working Group on Diabetes. She has actively trained health care workers in Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Turkey in wound care and diabetic foot.

She conducted research on a number of topics including, Topical Ozone Therapy for Diabetic Foot Infection, Sidestep Diabetic Foot Infection, Ertapenem versus Zosyn; Merck, Diabetic Foot Infection Study, Linazolide versus Zosyn/Augmentin;   Beyer, HCG Study for Venous Stasis Ulcer Treatment and Activity Monitoring in the High Risk Patients with Diabetes. In addition, she has also published many papers including, Foot Ulcers: Causes, Diagnosis and Treatments, Chapter VIII.
